Debbie Young and Mary Singler were presenters at this year’s National Association of County & City Health Officials Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mary Singler presented on the BUILD Health Challenge, a program strengthening partnerships between community-based organizations, health care systems, and local health departments to drive sustainable improvements in health. She shared how NKY is using hospital and physician data combined with input from community members to reduce smoking rates in Covington. Mary’s presentation can be viewed HERE.
Mary had this to say about the conference: “NACCHO was an awesome conference. Every session was relevant as all of the presenters were either from a Health Department or working with a Health Department.”
Debbie Young presented our health equity report for the NKY Health District. This online report identifies health disparities at a sub-county level using multiple years of Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey data for Kentucky. The findings are being used to inform the public, as well as target health department efforts. Debbie said that in addition to sharing our work, the participation in many training and learning sessions provided insight, ideas and networking opportunities!
