Healthy Monday: Resources for Worksites
Grant County, Ky., is a small, rural community in Northern Kentucky with a population of approximately 20,000 residents. Healthy Monday was implemented within a diverse array of worksites that range from small to large-size employers, including for profit and not-for-profit organizations. Specifically, this entailed a school district comprised of 500 employees, a pipe manufacturer with 80 employees, a service organization with 115 employees and three small businesses ranging from three to 25 employees.
In the fall of 2010, the worksites were introduced to two Healthy Monday programs: Monday 2000 and Monday Mile. The Healthy Monday worksite initiative was developed as two programs. Programs can be used separately or together. Click on the links below to access resources essential to implementing these programs in your worksite.
For more information on Healthy Monday worksite initiatives, contact Kelly Schwegman or Marsha Bach at the Northern Kentucky Health Department.
Monday Mile: includes environmental changes, marking mile routes inside and outside of the worksite, and an incentive based program to reward employees for miles walked.
Monday 2000: is an awareness program to help employees to limit their calories to 2000 per day. Employees who stay within these limits on Monday get rewarded.
