HIV Continuing Education Course

The Northern Kentucky Health Department is offering a continuing education course on HIV disease for health care providers from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Health Department’s District Office, 610 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Ky.   

This course covers basic up to date medical information about HIV disease, progression, transmission and prevention; management of HIV in the workplace; legal issues; statistics; local resources for HIV testing and case management, as well as strategies for offering routine HIV testing in medical practices. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommend all sexually active persons aged 13 and older to receive at least one lifetime HIV test and yearly based on her/his risk.

Two Continuing Education Units are available for the following professions: alcohol and addiction counselors, athletic trainers, chiropractors, dentists, dental hygienists, Emergency Medical Technicians, nurses, optometrists, paramedics, pharmacists, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, physicians, physician assistants, podiatrists and social workers.
