Supermarket Tour Focuses on Diabetes Education

Diabetes educators from the Northern Kentucky Diabetes Coalition will be participating in supermarket tours to provide real-time nutrition information to those with or at risk for diabetes. The tour is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Meijer, 4990 Houston Road, Florence, Ky. Participants should meet in the pharmacy.

Participants will get personalized tips for healthy shopping, learn to read labels and learn how carbohydrate counting can be incorporated into grocery shopping. Plus, all participants will receive a reusable shopping bag with information about diabetes.

Tours will be led by a Certified Diabetes Educator and/or a Registered Dietitian. Registration is required to guarantee a space. Please contact Julie Shapero at 859.363.2116 or Joan Geohegan at 859.363.2115 to register.
