Program Offers Strategies to Reduce Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Thursday, April 3, 2014

The Northern Kentucky Health Department will be offering an introductory class to preventing Type 2 diabetes. The two-hour class is planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Scheben Branch of the Boone County Public Library, 8899 U.S. 42, Union, Ky. Light refreshments will be provided.

This class will provide helpful information about ways to lower your risk for Type 2 diabetes.

One in three adults in the U.S. has pre-diabetes, but only 11 percent know they have it. Studies show that programs like these can reduce the number of cases of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent in adults and by 70 percent in adults over age 60.

To ensure that the instructors have enough materials for all participants, registration is required. For more information or to register, please contact Joan Geohegan at 859.363.2115 or Julie Shapero at 859.363.2116.
